Gen-Z Intern Shares What’s New in Bonaire in 2025
February 10, 2025
Here’s what’s #giving on the Dutch Caribbean Island for the New Year
With the future of TikTok up in the air, it’s time to go out and touch some grass. This makes 2025 the year to reconnect with nature on a Caribbean island — think: tropical cocktails and yap.
A new year calls for our selfish era, when we take back time for ourselves by booking that relaxing vacation and curating the perfect Instagram photo dump for our feeds. Luckily, Bonaire understood the assignment offering not only stunning natural backdrops that #slay but also a slew of new experiences that slap. Along with that, the destination mastered the Ins and Outs for 2025 – check out the breakdown below:
INS:
Taking Solo Trips and Rotting on Vacation
Gen-Z is fearless, so if there is any generation that is going to branch out and explore on their own, it’s us. Going nonverbal is also a priority, so traveling alone guarantees plenty of that. If you’re traveling solo, Bonaire Taxi high key has the best opportunities for exploring around the island. Recently introduced, users of the app can book transportation around the island on demand or choose from a number of their private guided tours. Put that phone on DND and participate in everything from volunteering for coral reef cleanup to snorkeling in the bluest waters you (and your Instagram followers) will ever see, no cap.
Since no one feels bad about going on trips without a packed itinerary anymore and are over needing a vacation after their vacation, a destination that offers plenty of beach club cabanas and seaside hammocks where moving isn’t a necessity is definitely in for 2025. Get your hurkle-durkle on at either or both of Bonaire’s new beach clubs. Grand Windsock Beach Club and Reef Bar Sorobon Luxury Beach Resort recently opened so they’re giving ‘new year, new me’. After rotting on one of their loungers, your tan will eat but so can you with options to grab a bite or sip on something tasty like their famous cheese balls or a classic aperol spritz.

Big Back Energy
Get ready to film your mukbangs because Bonaire’s culinary scene is continuing to grow. One of the best ways to experience a destination is through food and with the island’s variety of bussin’ new options, which range from Hawaiian-inspired bites from Mahalo Bowls and Rolls to the only-open-on-the-weekends Big Ron’s BBQ, serving take-out barbecue and soups (while you’re serving looks); there’s no shortage of good eats.
For delicious dining, vibes, and scenery, the recently opened live cooking restaurant, Momento at Plaza Beach Resort will be living in your head rent-free. Trust me, it’s giving bougie. If you want to be a skinny legend, check out Bubbles, which opened its doors this year in colorful downtown Kralendjik with a menu of fresh grilled seafood, smoked dishes and cocktails for lunch and dinner.
The Lady Bellaïs, a charming wooden Brazilian schooner, just launched the Bella Brunch. Say hello to a luxurious feast, an open bar, and channeling your inner mermaid (or merman) via a guided snorkeling tour through Bonaire’s epic coral reefs. Plus, eating on a boat and jumping in the crystal clear water after just hits different, #iykyk.

Get Your Mind and Body #Snatched
2025 is all about you. Get snatched with a visit to Float Bonaire Wellness Center to experience the latest on trend wellness treatments, from float therapy and TikTok’s favorite cold plunges to an infrared sauna. This new facility, located at Corallium Hotel, is a must visit for those seeking a zen island escape.
Bonaire roughly translates to “good air” making it the perfect place to realign your chakras and perfect your yoga poses. Thrive Yoga Club is a brand new yoga studio on Bonaire offering special events, activities, and retreats. No crashing out on this island!
Visitors can also take their workouts underwater and get their summer bodies right during Captain Don’s 100th Birthday Anniversary from May – August with special perks and unbeatable deals for scuba diving and exclusive discounts at the spa. Plus, anyone who books gets entered into a chance to win a free trip and who doesn’t love free things?
OUTS:
Over-Touristed and Non Eco-Friendly Destinations
Bonaire: say less. As the sustainable, eco-friendly Final Boss with a population of only about 25,000 — this island is actually very cutesy, very mindful, very demure. With almost as many flamingos on the island as people and no traffic lights, Bonaire is low key and still off the over-instagrammed path.
The destination’s completely protected coastline preserves the underwater world for which it’s known. With the continued effort to protect their marine life, Bonaire’s Reef Renewal Foundation looks after coral nurseries and with 2025 forecasted as another severe bleaching year, they focused on installing specially-designed shading structures in the nurseries to get ahead of the predicted bleaching period. According to the RRF, shading has been shown to reduce the impacts of heat stress on coral fragments. Okay, eco-friendly queen!

Catching Feelings
That’s an ick, no thank you. We are ghosting our feelings and only catching flights all year round. JetBlue is now offering non-stop service from New York (JFK) to Bonaire (BON) every Tuesday and Saturday making it even easier to reach the World’s First Blue Destination. This new flight joins the portfolio of US airlines currently offering lift to the island to meet the continued demand of travelers seeking to visit the Caribbean destination.

Taking L’s on Accommodations
Where you stay matters and in 2025 we are treating ourselves to only the best. Many of Bonaire’s accommodations are straight W’s with new updates helping them up their game (and your travel points) in the new year.
Marriott Bonvoy added Bonaire to their collection with the Grand Windsock Bonaire where they opened 72 vacation homes in their rental pool to Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy as of June 2024. Additionally, as of October of 2024 Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire was included in the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a collection of independent hotels and resorts with an authentic connection to their destination. These hotels ate that one lil’ thing!
That’s our 2025 Bonaire wrapped. This island is living rent-free in travelers and adventure junkies minds and is the perfect destination to bring vision boards and Pinterest feeds to life.
