Bonaire shines in different top media outlets in the US and Europe outcome of PR efforts

Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) is happy to share different Bonaire coverage and stories in top-notch media outlets in the US and Europe as a result of the public relations efforts of Bonaire’s PR agency, Diamond Public Relations.

The focus for the public relations’ plan for 2024 is to continue generating awareness for Bonaire in the US and Canada (beyond the dive market) and in the German speaking markets (Austria, Germany, Switzerland), tap into new trends center on solo travel, culinary travel and wellness travel. Furthermore, highlight the island’s ongoing commitment to nature preservation and local culture in order to attract visitors who share similar values and connect media with the local community to enrich their own experiences.

In the months of January and February 2024, Bonaire received a mix of digital, print and social media coverage resulting in an overall reach of 62.6 million in North American markets and 5 million in European markets.

Top Highlights – North America
Top highlights of the months include a stunning mention in National Geographic’s “Best of the World” list for 2024, as a result of the agency pitching, spotlighting Belnem House Bonaire as an off-the-grid boutique hotel, as well as the booming underwater and on land nature experiences that the island has to offer. Bonaire was also featured on
ArtfulLiving.com and in the Winter 2024 issue of their print magazine, as a result of freelance writer Ashlea Halpern’s visit in May of last year, highlighting her stay at Harbour Village Beach Club as well as other activities that she participated in such as scuba diving, landsailing, caving, kayaking, a visit to the Donkey Sanctuary, and dining at Brass Boer, Posada Para Mira, Cactus Blue Foodtruck, and more. Another result of the agency pitching was Bonaire coverage on TravelAgeWest.com, in a story about the best places to run, hike, and get outdoor workouts in the Caribbean. The story highlighted the different hiking trails available at the Washington Slagbaai National Park where
adventure-seekers have the opportunity to hike to the top of hills with a viewpoint of the pink flamingos nearby. Furthermore, Bonaire was also highlighted on Forbes.com, in a story about serene, adult-friendly escapes for Spring, and on Countryliving.com, in a story about the best off-the-beaten-path destinations to visit in 2024.

Additionally, the “Tik Tok Island Hop” influencer trip hosted last September, continued to bring mass exposure for Bonaire on the popular platform as the Tik Tokers keep share throwback videos where they reminisce on their time on the island and all of the exciting adventures they took part in.

Top Highlights – Europe
Top highlights of the months include an amazing Bonaire cover story in the latest issue of Quote Magazine and the online platform of this luxury business publication, Quotenet.nl, as a result of the agency pitching, spotlighting different island partners including an exclusive interview with Jonnie and Thérèse Boer on gastronomy, Brass Boer, Delfins Beach Resort and Restaurant Senang. The agency also pitched a press release on “24 New Experiences in 2024 on Bonaire” and it resulted in great pick-up from different media outlets, such as Reisbizz.nl, Tastytrails.nl, Verkeersbureaus.info, Societyworld.nl, Foodiesmagazine.nl, AllesoverBonaire.nl, and more. The press release highlights exciting developments, new flight routes available to the island and sustainable efforts, restaurants and adventure-seekers experiences. Another result of the agency pitching was a Bonaire coverage on TravelPro Magazine, in a Caribbean Special, highlighting the latest developments and sustainability efforts on Bonaire, including mentioned of different island partners.

Other “behind-the-scenes” highlights include a popular culinary television production that took place end of February on Bonaire, featuring different local chefs and talents, scheduled to air on Disney’s 24Kitchen channel later this year.

In April, TCB in conjunction with Diamond Public Relations will be hosting a press trip themed: “Bites & Nights”, focusing on the island’s exclusive fine dining and after dark experiences.
