Bonaire introduces a FAQ page for the Visitor Entry Tax

As of July 1st, 2022, all non-residents and visitors to Bonaire are required to pay the Visitor Entry Tax; a replacement of what was formerly known as the island’s ‘room tax’ and rental ‘car tax’. Visitors 13 years and older are required to pay USD 75 per person per visit, and visitors 12 years and younger and residents of the former Netherlands Antilles are required to pay USD 10 per person per visit. Bonaire residents with a valid Bonaire I.D. (sedula) do not have to pay the Visitor Entry Tax. The mandatory tax can be paid digitally on www.BonaireIsland.com as of the end of June 2022, or upon arrival at the airport.

As part of the communication strategy to inform stakeholders, partners, future visitors, and the community of Bonaire on the implementation and progress of the Visitor Entry Tax, Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB) will be organizing several information sessions. This Friday, June 17th, the Stakeholder and Partner Session will take place. During the week of June 20th, different information sessions for airlines, travel agents, online travel agencies (OTA’s), and more, including training sessions will take place.

Yes. Visitors that pre-paid the ‘room tax’ or rental ‘car tax’ after July 1st, should ask the hotel or car rental company for a refund of the tax paid after July 1st, 2022.
