Un Anochi di Rekuerdo
Second Edition on Saturday, 7 November
Following an impressive first edition, Hospice Kas Flamboyan will once again host the memorial
evening ‘Un Anochi di Rekuerdo’ at Parke Isidel on Saturday, 7 November. Everyone who is missing a
loved one is welcome to come together to reflect on loss, love and remembrance.
Following the warm reception of the first edition in November 2025, Un Anochi di Rekuerdo returns
this year. During this special memorial evening, residents of Bonaire will gather to honour their loved
ones and keep their memories alive. The event will take place on Saturday, 7 November, from 7:00
to 9:00 p.m. at Parke Isidel.
During the evening, lanterns with LED lights will be arranged in the shape of a large heart. Each
lantern will carry a name, a personal message or a memory. Together, the lights will form a heart
symbolising the love that remains, even when someone is no longer with us.
A lantern with a personal message
New this year, visitors can purchase their lantern at Hospice Kas Flamboyan during the week leading
up to the event. From Monday, 2 November, through Friday, 6 November, anyone interested is
welcome to visit the hospice between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. to purchase a lantern.
Visitors can write a message on or decorate their lantern at the hospice, or do so at home whenever
it suits them. On Saturday, 7 November, they can bring their personalised lantern to Parke Isidel and
place it within the large heart of light.
Music, poetry and connection
As in the previous year, the memorial evening will be accompanied by music and poetry. Throughout
the two-hour event, there will be space for quiet reflection, shared understanding and connection,
including musical accompaniment by a saxophonist and poetry readings.
The evening is intended for anyone who is missing a loved one, regardless of how long ago the loss
occurred. Former residents of Hospice Kas Flamboyan will also be remembered. In addition, the
evening will honour the seven people who were aboard the missing vessel Isidel in 1978, after which
Parke Isidel was named.
A lasting place to remember together
The initiative for Un Anochi di Rekuerdo comes from Hospice Kas Flamboyan, which has been
providing a loving, homelike environment for people in the final stages of life and their loved ones
since 2018.
The first edition in 2025 brought together more than 200 people. With 300 lanterns arranged in the
shape of a large heart, the evening created a moving image of light, love and connection. The
community’s involvement highlighted the need for a place where people can come together to
reflect on loss and remembrance.
With this second edition, the hospice hopes to continue this special tradition and bring the
community together once again. At the same time, the event supports the work of Hospice Kas
Flamboyan. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to the hospice.
Everyone is welcome
Hospice Kas Flamboyan invites all residents of Bonaire to take part in this special evening. Admission
is free. Anyone wishing to honour a loved one can purchase a lantern and make a personal
contribution to the heart of light.
